Your Questions About Money Making Schemes From Home
David asks…
What is a legitimate, lucrative at home business?
I’m looking to start my own home based business, but don’t want to be part of a pyramid scheme. I’m a mom to be and the extra income would be very helpful to my family. Not to mention, if the business does well enough, I could quit my full-time job and be a stay at home mom and save on day care!
Nagesh answers:
There are plenty legitamate and lucrative home based businesses out there. Some businesses are designed for solely customer acquisition based, (no MLM plan) while other businesses have a design for both recruitment and customer acquisition based. This just means getting customers. It’s funny because many people refer companies to a MLM or a pyramid scheme without looking into the entire documentation of how the business model is. I laugh at so many misconceptions I’ve heard over the years with Pyramid accusations, MLM accusations on a variety of different companies. Even companies that are claiming not to be involved in an MLM scheme or “pyramid”. Let’s face it, where do YOU work now? Is it for a small business owner, how about a large corporation, or even inbetween? Unless your jobless, guess what, your part of a pyramid scheme. Here’s why: The American business model is build the same way! Welcome to Corporate America! Get a peice of paper out. Take any corporation or small business, let’s use a corporation as an example. On the top of your paper, draw a circle. This circle represents the Owner or partnership owners, Then write two circles under that (President/ CEO) and the Vice President. Write a few more circles under that and you have corporate management positions. A few circles under that and you have store managers, a few circles under that and you have store department managers, a few circles under that and you have sales reps. Each level on this pyramid scale is a different level of income. The bottom people doing all the dirty work so that the position above them gets paid so that the position above them gets paid and so on and so on. What people don’t realize that but unless it’s a one man show no hired help, no independent representatives, everyone works in a pyramid! Even if it is a one man show, your still feeding Uncle Sam who didn’t work for you at all. But sits on top of the biggest pyramid scheme of them all collecting money from everyone. So are you ready to quit your day job yet? I wouldn’t until your set financially. Like I tell my kids, don’t bite the hand that feeds you! The point is regardless if it’s an MLM, Networking or even down to a shoe store, everything is part of a pyramid. Key thing that if you don’t want to do an MLM scheme and not recruit, then find a home based business where it’s not mandatory to recruit for other people to do what your doing, and their is a compensation plan that is design for non recruitment. Understand to achieve the amount of money that you desire, will take a little bit longer to obtain then getting a few people to help you acquire customers. But the company should give you a choice. If you choose to recruit people, then the income you make from their customers should not be taken away from that persons income at all. It should be equal value. If you decide to open up your own business, and are against MLM schemes, then don’t be a hypocrite and hire someone to work for you, because guess what, you just started your own MLM scheme. It’s a fact of life. You can slice and dice it anyway you want, but like I said, unless your jobless then your part of a pyramid scheme yourself right now. That’s just how it is. Your whole working career has been part of a pyramid.
You don’t want an MLM, network marketing or pyramid, start your own daycare, but don’t hire anyone or you just started a pyramid once again. Also you’ll be limited to how many kids you can take in. Your own kids count as a head count. So if your licensed for say 6, you have 2 kids per say, you can only take in 4.
Unless you want to keep inside your safety zone and not step out of your box and venture into something that can be very rewarding and have your own business regardless of what type of home based business (they’re all pyramid structures, even jobs are) then don’t quit your day job, even though it’s a pyramid structure as well. Don’t mean to be harsh , but it’s the facts of life.
Good Luck to you though!
Joseph asks…
What if the feds just gave everyone money to pay off their home out of their social security?
In other words – give people that are underwater plenty to cover their home, but upon retirement – make their benefits smaller
This would give them years to financially recover and save more than the average joe since they know they will struggle in retirement?
Opinions – negative or positive accepted
Nagesh answers:
There are a multitude of problems with your suggestion. The Democrats have fought tooth and nail to keep Social Security from being privatized, that is having you “own” the deposits you have made to Social Security. Nancy Pelosi and her ilk have made a pact where they take your money, spend it as they wish, with a “promise” to pay you back something in retirement. There is no Social Security trust fund. The money has been spent. Like Rick Perry alludes to, it is a Ponzi scheme where you pay into a system which pays benefits to current recipients and future generations (if there’s enough of them and they earn enough) pay for your benefits when you retire. There is no money to pay you back what you paid into Social Security.
Nancy Pelosi and her ilk do not believe you have the intelligence to handle the money you paid into Social Security so will never give it to you until you qualify for it.
Also, please explain why people who were good with their money and never became underwater get to sit by and watch all of those who were bad with their money, got themselves underwater and get to do what they want with this handout? Why should people who were bad with their money get more options with how to spend it?
Nope, Social Security was designed to be a safety net, a safety net you propose to rip to shreds with your proposal. It won’t happen.
Thomas asks…
Is there a catch with job postings that claim you can work at home on your computer and get paid well?
I was looking through job websites and I’ve noticed alot more of these type of jobs offered than normal jobs. They say that you can make hundreds, even thousands a day by just inputing data or taking surveys. What’s the catch? Are they schemes? If they are, then why would job websites post these?
Nagesh answers:
I think MSN may be pretty reputable as far as a source, if you look on their Money section, they have an article about real work at home jobs and some of these are for surveys
Paul asks…
Would like to work from home looking for something that doesn’t require any investment?
I have a degree in business administration but having problems getting work. So I would like to know what options there may be from home. Not any of those stupid fill out survey stuff, real work.

You’ll get lots of scammers answering here, don’t fall prey. But, at the same time, please don’t listen to the people saying they are ALL SCAMS. They aren’t ALL scams, just MOST of them are!
I’m a single mom of 2 who’s tried over 15 opportunities over 3 years so I have some great info for you on how to find a LEGIT way to work at home plus a list of top 10 work at home scams!
People are looking for work from home and the biggest problem is they don’t understand that there really are NO WORK AT HOME JOBS. You won’t find hourly pay from home. You can look forever, you’ll never find it. The only way to earn an income from home is to find a legit home business.
Small home businesses have increased in the last 5 years by about 200%. People are starting to realize that if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. The best home businesses to start are those with a proven plan in place like Mary Kay however if you’re like me, you’re not interested in pushing products.
Legit home businesses should have a small cost involved but be careful, all the scams will be charging too so know the business! Talk to a REAL person and ask questions. Less than $500 to start is reasonable and I’d stay away from those wanting $1k – $5k. It doesn’t cost that much to start a home business so don’t pay it. If you’re coming across places that say free then RUN the other way! They never are in the end!
After trying 15 things, I now work about 25 hours per week for a well known and respected company w/ amazing credentials. This company actually helps keep Americans Safe by offering Medical and Dental plans as well as things like roadside assistance, credit repair and National Child ID in partnership with the FBI. We also help Americans save money on things they need and buy every day. The average American household saves $400 a month using these plans.
Anyway, I started with this company 3 years ago and started making $500 a month within 3 months. That income has increased now to $900 a week. No, it’s not $10,000 a day like those scams advertise but this isn’t a get rich quick scheme. If that’s what you are looking for you should think again! The best part is they have 401(k), direct deposit and a health plan from day one.
With this company there’s NO products to sell or store, NO hard selling or pushing, NO Bugging Friends and Family, NO cold calling, NO home parties and NO telemarketing! That was VERY important to me. Figure out what you DON’T want to do as well and make sure you find a company that fits with that!
I work as part of a team with other reps in the company. I had at least 5 of their home phone #’s the day I started. This is a big one: Make sure that you’re going to have others to work with. Don’t find out you just paid a start up cost and you will be trained by someone in a call center who has NO REAL idea what you are actually supposed to do. Make sure you are trained by other reps just like you, and ask for names and numbers! If they won’t give them, walk away!
I was scared at first because there are lots of scams, but this company’s credentials FAR SURPASSED any other I had ever seen. They are members of the National Association of Dental Plans and the US Chamber of Commerce and have been featured in Parent Magazine, Time Magazine, on 60 Minutes and many other places. They are partnered with the FBI on one of their plans that helps American’s protect their kids. This company has an “A” RATING WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU! These are some of the types of national credentials you need to be looking for during your search and make sure they have at C or better rating with the BBB.
My point here is to tell you, YES! There actually are legit work at home options so press forward! You will find them eventually!
AVOID these top 10 work at home scams:
10. Craft Assembly
9. Medical Billing
8. Email/Rebate Processing
7. “A List of Companies Looking for Home workers!”
6. “Just pay for and take this class first” Then we’ll give or find you a job!
5. Envelope Stuffing
4. “Turn Your Computer Into a Money-Making Machine!”
3. Pyramid Schemes (this is NOT the same as Multi-Level Marketing MLM)
2. Chain Letters/Emails
1. Typing At Home / Data Entry (The biggest scam out there. 100% of them are scams!)
As for those of you who say: ”I want to work from home but I don’t want to have to pay for anything”. Well, that’s great! But it’s not realistic. Let’s be honest, there is no such thing as a free lunch. If it is a true honest legitimate home business, you need to expect to pay a little something. Mr. Walt Disney didn’t start the Disney empire “without paying for anything”. Neither did Mr. Sam Walton, owner of Wal-Mart.
Good luck in your search!

Robert asks…
Why are people so put off my direct sale opportunities?
I’m just curious to try and understand this, but why are so many people so put off or questionable about direct sales or home-business opportunities? I understand that there are those out there they do things with dishonest gain, but why does it give a black eye to legitimate companies that do have ethics and stuff? Is it because of cost to start up? I am just trying to understand.
Nagesh answers:
I have a network marketing business of my own and have done a lot of reading over the last couple of years, about selling psychology and so on.
The basic thing is this: Think about when you walk into a, let’s say, department store. Do you like the guy to come straight up to you and shove products in your face and use all different aggressive sales techniques to pry your money away from you and into his cash register?
Or do you prefer to cruise around the store and browse without pressure. If you see something you like, you may decide to buy it.
PEOPLE HATE TO BE SOLD TO. THEY LIKE TO BUY.
Network marketing has a false reputation of being a pyramid scheme, simply because people’s minds are closed to the concept, even though they don’t realise that the company they work for, the church they go to, have the same pyramidical (real word?) heirarchy structure, with the guy at the top making more money than each level below (CEO, then management, then workers).
Sometimes they just aren’t looking for anything like that, they are happy the way they are. They don’t want to have to try and talk people into buying things from them, which is fair enough I say.
