Nagesh answers:

They are all scams. Never send money to attempt to make money on-line.

The only legit thing you can do on-line is sell stuff on ebay. Otherwise, you need a real job. Try fast food.

Michael asks…

How long does it take to be able to afford plastic surgery?

I’m 17 years old and in the future I do know that I certainly want to get some work done on my face. There’s nothing wrong with that either, if you can improve your features, then why not. Seriously, our culture is so ridiculous about it, others aren’t as bad as we are! We’re told we have to be gorgeous and wear makeup and photoshop our photos and look a certain way.. but when we go to get plastic surgery it’s wrong??? Anyway….

I’d like to be able to get what I want done by age 20 or the latest, 25. Our family isn’t THAT rich, but we’re pretty well off, and I’m an only child. I won’t have any college loans to pay because I have a trust fund for that from my grandmother. My parents are fine with the idea of me getting plastic surgery, I mean they’re not encouraging me to get it lol but they have the same idea that I do. They just can’t pay for it, and I understand, if it were something more practical they would but something unnecessary isn’t something they need to pitch in money for. I plan on going to art school, but wait, before you tell me to give up the dream of surgery hear me out. I’m not going to be some penniless painter living in an ally way hoping to make it big. I have my sight set for practical art jobs that can actually pay a lot. I have the talent and the drive to get a really good job in the art world. Ultimately I’d like to be an animator or a concept artist for a large gaming or film company. Those jobs can pay $100,000 a year. Of course, I don’t know how quickly I’d be able to get a job at a place like that straight out of school, thankfully I’ll be going to one of the best art schools in the world and they really push and help you get into a good job right after you graduate.

I also plan on living frugally for the first part of my life.. eventually I’d like to have a nice house and a nice car and live in a nice area.. but in my 20s? I won’t be home most of the time anyway because I’ll be young. All that I care about is health and safety lol. As long as I live in a decent area I don’t mind living in a tiny apartment.. I don’t even need a car or anything. I seriously plan on saving. If time permits, I’ll even get a second job.

Anyway… What I’ll probably have done is something to my nose and a chin implant.. Or whatever the surgeon would recommend in the consult. I would also hope to go to a very very good surgeon lol. So I know a chin implant on it’s own can cost like $6000.. would that in conjunction with a nosejob in the same surgery be cheaper or would I get some sort of discount? Because people usually get them done together. I don’t know how fast money accumulates in your adult life, if you’re living frugally, even if you’re on minimum wage (which I don’t think I will be, or at least not for very long if at all), or when you get a real job.. all of that. How soon would I have that kind of money to spend if I was putting some money away for it specifically? I have two more years at home (I’m taking a skip year) so I do plan on having a job, I plan on getting one this winter.

Thanks!
It’s just two things that I’d like to change. I’m pretty happy with myself otherwise. Living frugally wouldn’t just be for the surgery, it’s so I can afford other things later in life as well. This is just one thing that I’d like to do.
Sorry, not looking for opinions, I just want to know how long it takes to accumulate that kind of money.

Nagesh answers:

Well good job for being a teenager that’s able to type in coherent sentences – that seems to be a rare breed around here..

First of all you need to book a consultation with a surgeon, and once you’ve decided what you’d like to get done you can find out how much it would cost. If it’s very expensive it will require more time to save up for, obviously. You could probably afford it in as little as four years – maybe on your 21st birthday?

I’m slightly worried because you seem to be shaping your whole life around having the perfect looks, which really isn’t going to make you very happy in the end. And getting surgery is a slippery slope, it can get very addictive so try to stop at just one or two procedures, or you’ll end up looking like a plastic doll.

Best of luck!
