Can paypal legally hold my money?

I do not sell on ebay, and I had one dispute against me in the beginning of December and I provided paypal instantly of tracking info and info to show that the item was delivered and had been received. Once I did this, the person who filed the complaint never ever even responded again to the complaint, because they had been caught in a lie, and paypal ruled in my favor. Other than that, I have 100% feedback in my etsy store and have never had an issue with paypal.

Now fast forward to the end of December and I receive an email telling me that they plan on holding all payments received thus far from the email, for up to 21 days, yet when I called them on the phone about it in turned into 30-some days. My business is small. I design handmade items/clothing for kids and 50-60 percent of my sales go toward the cost of supplies since most orders are custom orders from customers. I need that money in order to be able to complete orders.

I called paypal, explained this, explained I’m an honest seller and a good seller and that I have never had an issue with paypal, except this one time which I proved I was right and they ruled in my favor, and that I need the money to complete orders…they basically gave me the run around and told me they do this every 60-some days to account holders, yadda yadda and they don’t care basically and I just need to find a way and deal with it…they said “incase of future orders, incase there would be a problem, they would need to have money to cover disputes and this is a security precaution they do on each account every 60-some days to every customer for a little over a month and if I have no cases or issues, they take the hold off once it is reviewed.” This makes no sense..what security do they really get from this and what happens after the 30 days to prevent this? I asked them these questions and they had no answers. I also asked many people in ym selling groups…some said they had and are experiencing the same thing and some who have had accounts for years and years have said they have never had this happen….I am confused…they said they do this to “everyone” as a standard practice every 60 some days!

I am just a small business, work from home, stay at home Mom who does this from extra income so what do I do when I need money for shipping and supplies and cannot afford the extra? Is this legally possible to do? I have done nothing wrong and do not see the point in being punished. It seems like they pick and choose who they wish to mess with and I do not find this fair. I could try another method of payment but all online transactions only have paypal as an option via etsy which is where my store is located and most people use paypal and feel comfortable with it so I feel it will hinder my sales. What do I do and how is this legal?
Also, I made the comment to them when I spoke to them that maybe I just wouldn’t use them for the days they review my account and that I would just find another method to accept payment and send invoices so I am able to process each order honestly and they told me if I do that and I do not hve paypal sales and transactions, it will not end the review, it will only make it last longer until they have something to review and I told them “So what, you want me to accept orders I cannot complete without having the money you have pending and on hold just so I can get a hold off the account when that goes against why you have the hold on in the first place…to make sure they have honest sellers. What sense does this make?

Hi, so i’m currently planning a trip to Georgia during the summer through Girl Scouts, i also currently want to save up for the iPhone4S. My dad keeps advising me to get into forex silver trading. The way he has described it makes it seem great; that there are high profit yields and low risks when using a forex platform. So if silver increased ten cents today, you would have profited $50 or lost $50 if it was the other way around. My dad explained that programs will have an option to sell if silver gets below a certain point to mitigate your losses. If I was investing in $200 lets say, I could lose the money quick if I wasn’t watching it, but if a program was doing it for me… Well then it sounds like it would be too easy to profit.

My dad isn’t particularly rational and I think he doesn’t know how to sort through the junk of misinformation in the business world. For me, trying to find information on silver trading on the internet is much more difficult then trying to find factual information about a subject in college, as most people out there seem to be solely concerned into manipulating people into acting in a given behavior that benefits their pocket book.

Please give me some advice on how to get into forex silver trading as a young and broke student (supposing that one should get into it at all!).

Flavius, what do you think the point of this question is? Did you even read my post? I’m not about to spend $500 NOW. I’m trying to get more information from good sources before I invest, and I don’t expect to get all that information from yahoo answers anyways.

I don’t mean that high profit and low risk are something inherently related to any investment scheme. I meant that a computer program would be able to manage risks through math rather than human reasoning, like commands to “sell” when x object drops below Y dollar amount. It doesn’t seem like that difficult of a concept.

Insurance help? Hospital Bill?

So basically i went to the hospital for abdominal pains. And they did blood work, cat scan and urinalysis. i have no insurance at all, i’m a full college student, and my mom only makes less than 30,000 a yr. my bill came out 1,000, plus 400 for blood work, and 400 for some other stuff. Is there a way i could get medical insurance to reduce my bill? like medi cal or like some quick insurance for college students. it’s too much money for our family? i need help thanks.

Why can’t we choose to allocate our federal taxes to our state of residence?

What happens…I pay federal taxes, they take a cut, waste it, then pretend to be generous and give money back to the states as “federal money?” How about only 20% goes to the Fed to run the military and 80% can go to the state where I live. It would certainly cut out the middle man and the state would end up with more money.

What is the point of money and education?

If you had a pretty much knew where your food source was and where you will dwell…or be nomadic… would there be any point in money? Why does money mean more outside of providing us a home and food? Education, unless you love learning, is the source of gaining more money.

I have a debate about fast food in school?

My class is doing a debate about fast food in school. My group is for fast food in school. I need help about what the other team will say. This is what I think they might say:
1.Students will get fatter because of the fast food.
2.The food might make the students not concentrate during class.
3.If we bring fast food it will encourage teens and kids to buy it.
4.Using fast food would use up the money the students and the school have.
Do any of you have any other ideas? I already got answers about the sentences above. Here are the answers I have for 1-4.
1. Teens mostly order the unhealthy foods on the menus; our goal is to put the healthy parts.
2. Students go without lunch everyday because they don’t like the, It’s better for them to eat and have energy than to not eat.
3. Doing this will also encourage them to buy the healthy foods and they will learn how to make their own eating habits.
4. We can work the prices so it’ll be cheaper and they’ll have money for their use.

I am a 15- year old girl who would like to get a summer job in order to make some extra money. I love kids and babysit for a few families; I am not interesting in working in the fast food industry. Any suggestions?

How do you think becoming a cashless society will change us?

We are fast becoming cashless. People have use debit cards or credit cards more then cash in the last few years. Do you think this is good or bad? With things like direct deposit we don’t even see pay checks anymore. Sure its easier, but do we spend more? Does not being able to see the bills growing smaller in our wallets make it easer to spend it? Does it worry anyone else that all of our finances are data in computer instead of in our hand? Does it make it hard for kids to understand how much money people really have and spend when they never see cash? Thoughts, Ideas, Input? Just trying to speed up a cold snowy day here!
