Michael asks…

What are some truly good work from home jobs?

Looking to do some work from home to earn some extra money. Would be great to hear from some people that have success with this.

Nagesh answers:

“If a company requires initial payment from you in order to work for them, they are not legitimate.”

There are a few legitimate data entry companies but are not hiring and have large waiting lists (1-2yrs). The majority of data entry jobs you seen online are scams. A real company will want you to have skills inc fast typing, may want you to know MS Excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but thats rare.

If you do an advanced search on yahoo, you will find previous answers, sometimes the info on these is good as the info they gave is likely to have been verified if the answer was voted as ‘Best’.

Betty asks…

Looking to work from home. What are some legit companies to work for and actually make money?

I am a stay at home mom of three children. I love staying at home with my children. Especially these days. you just don’t find that to often. Because the economy is so bad I need extra income. I want to work from home but I am unsure what to do and what really works. Does google payday work? Any idea of a work from home job that is legit and you can actually make some money doing it without working 24 hours a day? Also without investing money into a work from home company? Please Help!

Jenny asks…

How do you job search online?

How do you search for jobs online?

When submitting resumes how do you submit so that your resume is noticed, other than just having the words within the resume match up with the jobs you are applying for.

How long does it normally take after submitting a resume to hear back from a company?

Thanks!
I am looking for more creative suggestions, such as: Find the cfo’s or hiring manager’s email address online for a specific job, and then email directly a cover letter and a resume, and follow up each week.

Nagesh answers:

I stick with the State Department of Labor site as they filter out most of the spam dream job offers that you see on all the other sites.

NEVER give your personal information over the online services. If they want your SS number or a credit card number run away fast as that is 100% sure to be a scam.

Never give a credit card number and if some place needs a SS number for something like a background check ONLY give it to them IN PERSON at the time of an interview. Any other time or any push for it is a scam. No company will do a background check on you until after the first interview because it costs them money for the check and they won’t spend the money until they decide that you are the one that they want to hire. Plus, in most states you now need to sign a permission form that allows them to inquire about personal things on you.

The spam companies are trying to steal your identity and your money by preying on your desperation to get a new job. They go to all the sites like hot jobs, craigs list, career builder, linked in, and other easy to place free ads on sites. Once they contact you they sound like it is URGENT that you respond NOW and you have to give that information or you will lose your once in a lifetime opportunity and be poor forever. Don’t fall for their tricks. 99% of work from home postings are scams too.

Another thing I do is to frequently search the individual websites for companies that I wish to work for. Most will have a career tab or a job opening tab. Keep on checking their sites. Jobs will appear there first before anywhere else and sometimes being first means everything.

I have also found that when you apply for a State job, it can take up to 2 months before they contact you for an interview. States move very slow when it comes to new hires.

Edit: E-mailing a CEO will not get you hired. Arrested for stalking maybe, but not hired. Even small businesses have certain procedures that they must follow for all their job hires. These are specific company policies that are in place to be sure that the company is following all legal guidelines for hiring new employees and to be sure that they are not inadvertently opening themselves up to an unexpected lawsuit for discrimination or unfair hiring practices. There are a lot of desperate people out there who will do just about anything they can for some free money and that includes filing a discrimination lawsuit. They think that it might be worth a few bucks if they can even get an offer of settlement instead of a legal court battle even when they know that the suit is bogus to begin with. If you are not willing to follow their company policy, then you will not be a good candidate for an employee either. You have to play by their rules or you won’t be playing at all.

Joseph asks…

Has anyone ever tried the making money online with Google?

I see this and think because it is Google that it must not be a scam but it still seems way too good to be true. Is this a scam like all the others?

Nagesh answers:

Yes i have tried all of them and 9/10 you are getting paid less than a 3rd world farmer dont waste your time some even have the cheek to phone you up and ask you to pay them to work for them.the funny thing is idiots actually pay he he.and the ones that are legit billions are already doing it and have huge empires you wouldn’t have a chance in hell of competing.

Your best bet to make money online is search places like gum tree and craigslist and find the best bargains fast and go collect them and then re sell them for a profit on the same site or another.

Just always remember if something seems too good to be true it most likely will be.
